The rest of the funds were raised by individuals in the fraternity by selling
raffle tickets for a bike that Theta Zeta founder Bill Somers donated from his bike
shop. Congratulations to the chapter for another successful year at Relay for Life!
Pikes Volunteer at the Special Olympics

the Theta Zeta chapter hosted its second annual Rock for a Cure.
Last year Pi Kappa Alpha raised over $1600 from the concert alone. The chapter
will also be selling t-shirts with the logo shown. The concert was held on March 13th
at a local establishment here in Cedar Falls. Over $1,400 was collected from the door
including over $300 from t-shirt sales bringing the total to over $1,650. Hoping to further add to the funds collected,
the Theta Zeta chapter will be auctioning off a bike generously donated by alumni and Founding
Father of the Theta Zeta chapter at UNI Bill Somers. For more information about how to help out
Pi Kappa Alpha and their causes please contact Rudy Bachman.
Pikes 'Bail Out' Gamma Phis
Late April showers seemed to be bring more flooding than flowers in Cedar Falls, especially for the Gamma Phi Betas
who live on Merner Street by the Towers and incidentally a small crick. In the early hours of Friday morning on April 25,
the Gamma Phis woke up to water flooding into their rooms in the basement. They called upon the Pikes at the house and of course we came to help.
The National Weather Service reported more than 5" had fallen within a 24 hour period in Cedar Falls and surrounding communities.
Pictured above is Adam Schoenfeld by the door helping others place sand bags by the Gamma Phi's basement door.
Pikes Honor John Wayne
A tradition started nearly 5 years ago was continued this fall. Pikes honor The Duke near the end of every semester during
a brotherhood event where the chapter gathers to eat cowboy food and watch John Wayne movies. McLintock, North to Alaska and Sands of
Iwo Jima were played while the Pikes enjoyed tatortot casserole, meat and beverages. Here's to The Duke!
"I never shot nobody I didn't have to." - John Wayne
Initiation a Success
During the month of April the Theta Zeta chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity initiated
6 new members into the bonds of brotherhood. Congratulations to our newest Pikes! We know you
will accomplish great things!
Pikes Move Out of Temp Housing
For the past year, the Theta Zeta chapter has been living in temporary housing provided by UNI. This was due
to UNI's plans to build a parking garage on the 1200 block of 23rd street, the former home of the chapter house.
As of June '07 the Pikes moved out of the chapter house on 23rd street and into another of the University's houses
on the southwest side of campus. Plans were to actually move the chapter house one block north onto 22nd street. It all turned
out to be a successful move, however the preliminary estimations were to have the Pikes back into the chapter house come fall '07.
Delays after delays caused the Pikes to stay in temp housing for the remainder of the school year. With renovations and construction completed,
we were able to move back into our house at the beginning of June. The new address is 1215 West 22nd Street.

Pike of the Month
New Alumni
As the new members of the fraternity soon find out, the older members have seen, encountered and overcome much. Much of the success
that this fraternity has had is due to everything that every past member has brought to the table. Thanks to the hard work of all of our members Pi Kappa Alpha can
proudly call itself the greatest fraternity at UNI. Congratulations to our Pikes of the Month!
True Pike Award
Brandon Lind
Every year the Theta Zeta Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha awards a member with
the True Pike Award. This award is given to the member who exemplifies
the ideals of Pi Kappa Alpha. Brandon was awarded the True Pike Award for
his commitment to promoting a positive image of Pike on and off campus. During the spring semester
Brandon served as Vice President and Recruitment Chairman. He also helped coordinate
information tables for the Iowa Donor
Network. Because of these tables, more than 5300 lives will be save or improved.
More recently Brandon has initiated the reinstitution of the St. Jude's Up 'til
Dawn Program at UNI. This program helps to fund the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
During the past semester Brandon has been organizing an executive board for the Up Till
Dawn program. Congratulations to Brother Lind, a True Pike.
Theta Zeta Honors its Newest Alumni
Pi Kappa Alpha would not be here today if not for the work of its past members. Every progressive step that Pi Kappa Alpha makes
toward academics, community involvement, philanthropy, social networking and memories that will last a lifetime are all due in part to the
members who have stuck with it to the end. The gentlemen of the Theta Zeta chapter would like to thank and recognize the following new alumni
and with them great luck in their future endeavors. Phi Phi Kappa Alpha!
